Schools – First Nations Art Workshop

Your visit to the school over the 3 days was very significant for our students. I was amazed that they sat so quite to listen you yours and Ambrose’s story. I do feel that both of you are wonderful role models for our indigenous students and it would be a great benefit for our students indigenous and non-indigenous to have your delivery more programs in our school.

Zenith engaged Matt Robert and Ambrose Killian from Our Yarn to create a live Indigenous painting on our 3D Zenith letters throughout the course of our All staff Growth Summit.

Matt and Ambrose were an absolute pleasure to work with. They instantly understood our brief – to capture the theme of the Growth Summit – “The Magic of our People” and to celebrate our collaboration and connection via traditional Indigenous story-telling to reflect our acknowledgement and celebration of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.

Matt and Ambrose provided us with a concept for approval. The whole process was seamless and our team found it an absolute pleasure and joy to watch it all come to life. The Zenith Indigenous artwork is now a feature and pride of place in the entrance of our office space in Sydney and is a constant reminder to our people of our inspiring Growth Summit and our connection to our Indigenous Heritage.

We are now planning several more projects and will work with Matt and Ambrose to bring these to life.

The Urban Utilities education team have been working with Matt and Ambrose from Our Yarn since 2020. Their creative passion for storytelling, art and educating is evident in all that they do. The hard work and genuine care by the team is the foundation to their engaging programs that leave people feeling connected and inspired.

We have thoroughly enjoyed working with them to gain a better understanding of First Nations perspectives for our program of work and appreciate their calm wisdom and expertise that has contributed to our education program. We look forward to continuing work with Our Yarn in the future.

Office/ Corporate Team Building Art Experience

Matt and Ambrose came into our Brisbane office for both NAIDOC week and National Reconciliation Week this year. They did an incredible job of both educating and engaging everyone with their personal stories, and creating an open and comfortable environment to ask questions. Our team really enjoyed getting involved in the art workshop, with Matt and Ambrose finishing the two pieces off for us, which now hang proudly in our office.

This was one of the 2022 highlights for our team. We’re already looking forward to re-engaging Our Story next year.
